Leadership Development that changes behaviour, not just thinking

Most leadership courses fill a notebook and fade within a fortnight. Our programmes work differently: small cohorts, real workplace challenges, and a coach who checks in until the new habits hold. Based in Scotland, open to managers across the UK.

Four stages, ninety days

1

Diagnostic call (week 0)

A 45-minute conversation where we map your current leadership friction points. You describe the team dynamics, the decisions that stall, the feedback you keep hearing. We listen, ask hard questions, and decide together whether our programme fits.

2

360° snapshot (weeks 1–2)

We gather structured input from your direct reports, peers, and line manager. Not a generic survey: a set of 14 behavioural prompts tailored to the friction points from your diagnostic. The report is yours to keep, unfiltered.

3

Cohort workshops and coaching (weeks 3–10)

Four half-day workshops with a cohort of six to eight managers, spaced fortnightly. Between sessions you apply one specific practice to a live project. Your coach reviews progress in a 30-minute one-to-one each week. If something isn't landing, we change the approach mid-stream rather than ploughing on with the original plan.

4

Follow-through review (week 12)

We re-run the 360° snapshot, compare it to the baseline, and present the shifts in a joint session with your sponsor. You leave with a one-page development brief for the next six months, written in plain language your line manager can actually use.

Programmes we run

Each one is built around observable behaviour change, not theory alone.

First-line manager foundations

For people who've been promoted in the past 18 months and are still doing the old job alongside the new one. Over eight weeks we build the habits of delegation, feedback, and meeting discipline that let them stop firefighting. Cohorts of six, running three times a year.

Senior leadership intensive

A 12-week programme for directors and heads of department who already lead other managers. The focus is strategic decision-making under uncertainty, stakeholder influence, and building a leadership culture below them. Includes two residential days at a venue in Edinburgh.

Remote team leadership

Designed for managers whose teams span multiple locations or work primarily from home. We cover asynchronous communication norms, remote performance conversations, and how to maintain trust when you can't rely on corridor chats. Six sessions delivered entirely online.

One-to-one executive coaching

For individuals who need focused support outside a group setting. Sessions run fortnightly for three to six months, depending on the scope. Common topics: stepping into a board role, handling a restructure, or recovering from a difficult 360° result.

Founder of Pioneer Way Leadership coaching

Who runs this

Pioneer Way Leadership was started by a former operations director who spent 14 years inside FTSE 250 organisations before realising that most leadership training she'd attended had been forgotten within a month. The programmes here exist because she wanted to build the thing she wished she'd had at 32.

The coaching team includes three associates, each with at least a decade of line management experience in sectors ranging from financial services to the NHS. We are all ICF-credentialed, and we all still manage people in other roles. That matters: it keeps the advice grounded in current reality rather than textbook theory from 2011.

Questions we hear often

The first-line manager programme is £2,400 per person. The senior intensive is £4,800. One-to-one coaching is priced per engagement after the diagnostic call, typically between £3,000 and £6,000 depending on duration. All prices exclude VAT.

Yes, and about half of our work is delivered that way. We need a minimum of six participants and a named sponsor inside your organisation who will attend the opening and closing sessions. In-house pricing depends on cohort size and whether you want the residential element.

It happens rarely because the cohort commitment is strong, but life intervenes. If someone leaves before week 6, they can join the next cohort at no extra cost. After week 6, we offer three one-to-one coaching sessions to cover the remaining material.

We work across the UK. Open-enrolment cohorts meet in Edinburgh, but in-house programmes can be delivered at your premises anywhere in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland. Remote programmes have no geographic restriction at all.

An MBA module teaches frameworks. We teach habits. Every session ends with one practice you apply to a real situation before the next session. Your coach follows up on whether you did it, what happened, and what to adjust. The 360° data at the end shows whether other people noticed a change, not just whether you can pass an exam.

Open-enrolment cohorts run in January, May, and September. We usually fill about four weeks before the start date. If the next cohort is full, we will add you to the reserve list and let you know the moment a spot opens or a new cohort is confirmed.
